Dacia 1410 Sport: perpetual pet project no. 1

This is one of two pet projects I have currently in progress both in the real world and the virtual world.
It all revolves around this old Dacia 1410 Sport I got for almost free and currently restoring.
I used a combination of 3d modeling software to build a 3d model that would serve as a way to previsualize the final look for the real world car. I also plan to eventually add the car to various games that support modding.

It all started with a rough 3d scan. Quick tip: thin snow makes reflective surfaces easier to scan.

Next up I built a very efficient 3d model taking advantage of Maya’s new vertex normal weighting settings that allow for very good looking hard surfaces with less bevel subdivisions.
